What lasts is what you build.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest great story we have, written on clay tablets in ancient Mesopotamia. Gilgamesh, king of Uruk, spends the whole epic chasing a way to live forever, and he fails. On the last page he brings the ferryman Urshanabi home and tells him to climb the wall of Uruk, walk along it and study the brickwork. The walls are his answer: you can't live forever, but what you build can outlast you.
The design draws those walls with their stepped battlements and a gate of light, the sun disk of Shamash (the sun god who stands by Gilgamesh in the epic) above them, and the name Gilgamesh written in cuneiform, the wedge-shaped script the story was first written in. It's the story Gilgamesh Enterprise is named after.
